Iran Coronavirus Fund Update

Updated: Aug 12, 2020

I hope you are safe and well in these challenging times.

I am writing to update you on the IMS COVID-19 efforts. As you recall in March 2020, IMS initiated the Coronavirus Appeal in order to raise fund for much needed equipment in Iran. It subsequently transpired that we could do this more efficiently if we joined forces with similar European medical societies in Germany and France under the banner of “30 by 13” embodying our ambition to raise £30,000 by 13-bedar. We were delighted to surpass this by the time the fund was closed on 17 April with £49,510 raised. Since then we have been busy purchasing and delivering the equipment; we have successfully now purchased 78 non-invasive ventilators and delivered these to 46 hospitals in 32 cities across 5 provinces in Iran. A much needed equipment at the time when the country is reaching a new peak in COVID-19 cases. The IMS would particularly like to thank Dr Ali Rezaei Haddad, IMS committee member, who oversaw and coordinated the international efforts, and all the generous donors without whom this initiative would not reach fruition.

A detailed report can be found here.

With the very best wishes,

Keyoumars Ashkan
